The Last of the Magi by G.S. Eli is a revolutionary Adventure Novel. It dares to Create Romani (Gypsy) Role Model and Hero, Upending Centuries of Racism; Release Date: April 8, 2020
Author G.S. Eli works to eliminate discrimination against Romani culture and people through new book trilogy
(WESTPORT, CT – MARCH, 2020) – It has been nearly eight decades since the Holocaust, yet the Romani people (Gypsies) are still rejected by virtually every country in the world. That’s one of the main points that the first installment of a new adventure trilogy entitled “The Last of the Magi” explores when it will be available for pre-release by American-Romani author G.S. Eli on April 8, 2020 in honor of International Romani Day. “The Last of the Magi: The Devouring” hopes to inspire one of the first Romani heroes, challenging centuries-old stereotypes and questioning an often-sidelined culture’s place in the world.
“Most people know us as gypsies,” said Eli. “For centuries, the Romani people have faced racism, discrimination and negative stereotyping by governments, neighbors and by Hollywood. We’re always portrayed as traveling thieves and fortune tellers who are out to steal from everyone. But with the launch of the new book series ‘The Last of the Magi,’ a new hero is introduced: Mila. He’s a Romani protagonist who looks and talks and feels just like the rest of us. And the best part is that he’s out to do good for his family, his community, and the world. Mila promises to be for the Romani people what James Bond is for the British people and what Mulan is for the Chinese people.”
The Devouring refers to the Romani word for the Holocaust, a subject that the new revolutionary adventure novel touches upon, though it is set in a modern-day Germany.
When a tarot card reading reveals an evil secret from biblical times, Mila, an orphaned gypsy, is forced to confront his true destiny. As he recklessly ignores the prophecy, a twist of fate brings two Americans into his world: Casey, an heiress, along with Jack, her ingenious companion, who were both stranded in Berlin by unusual circumstances. The three teens accidentally plunge into a world of dark secrets contained within Berlin’s abandoned underground tunnels. There, they uncover a lost artifact once wielded by the Nazis that awakens an evil force. Seeking to possess these powers, a sinister cult unleashes a shadow army to hunt for this holy relic.
Mila and his new friends must flee to escape certain death, and they are burdened with unlocking the mysteries of the artifact’s lost history, which promises to uncover what was Hitler’s unholy vengeance against the Gypsies.
“Many events in my life forced me to look at my Romani culture from outside the box. As a result, I discovered that we were in desperate need of positive role models, as well as fictional and historical heroes,” said Eli. “This inspired me to not only write ‘The Last of the Magi,’ but also to begin an activist organization called the Romani Media Initiative (RMI). It’s the perfect time to introduce America and the world to a true Romani hero.”
