Random House March Book Club Pick is The Unsinkable Greta James by Jennifer E. Smith! I was so excited when Random House contacted me to join in on this month’s book pick. I am a huge fan of Jennifer E. Smith’s writing (Field Notes on Love was a great read), and I could not wait to read this one.
I got an early copy of this book a few months back and was always a fan of this book when Random House reached out. As a book club member this month, I got an exclusive copy of the book. I also got an amazing candle from Allswell Home AND a notebook from Clarkson Potter! Let’s just say I took annotative notes in my new notebook and had my candle lit while I read.
So, what is The Unsinkable Greta James about?
It centers around Greta James, who is a successful singer. However, after the unexpected death of her mother, Greta falls apart in the middle of a concert. Bad news travels fast, and soon everyone has heard of Greta’s disaster. Rather than face the music, Greta tucks herself away, struggling to get over the loss of her mother. After a few months, Greta reluctantly decides to go on a cruise her parents booked to celebrate their anniversary. During this trip, Greta meets Ben, and the two find themselves having a deeper connection to each other than they thought. Will Greta decide after this trip is over to follow her heart and use her voice again? Find out when you read this book!
I won’t give too many spoilers away but if you’ve read this book, let me know! I’d love to chat with you all about it!
