So This Is Love by Elizabeth Lim Review is here. This is my first Twisted Tale novel, which reimagines the classic Disney fairytales. So This Is Love centers around Cinderella and if she never tried on the glass slipper.
Lady Tremaine, Cinderella’s stepmother, locks her in the attic when the Grand Duke shows up with the glass slipper. However, Cinderella doesn’t escape, and instead, she misses her chance to prove she was the girl at the ball with Prince Charles himself. When Lady Tremaine realizes Cinderella went to the ball, she sells her. It is then Cinderella gathers up her strength and escapes leading her onto a path that takes her to the palace. She gets a job as the Duchess Genevieve’s attendant at the castle.
Wearing a wig and uniform, the Prince doesn’t recognize her, much to Cinderella’s dismay. She has to learn to gain the confidence to find her own happiness for herself instead of relying on a fantasy fairytale. Will Cinderella find her true path, and will it lead her to the Prince? It’s a question you’ll have to read the novel to find out. Better yet, when Cinderella uncovers a plot that is targeted at killing King George, can she stop his death before it’s too late?
So This Is Love truly is a twisted tale that will take you on a rollercoaster ride throughout a magical land. But the real question is if Cinderella will learn to stand on her own two feet and fight for what she believes in.
Overall, I enjoyed this novel. I read it in a day, unable to put it down. The twists in the novel mixed with the story of Cinderella was amazing. Cinderella is my favorite Disney character, and I felt this book did her story justice. I liked how she never tried on the slipper and how Cinderella had to find her own happiness. My favorite line was, so this is love. The love story between the Prince and Cinderella was great. The scenes they were together were Disney perfect.
I definitely recommend reading this Twisted Tale. It was original, fun, and fast-pace. You won’t put it down once you start reading it. Elizabeth Lim did a great job of reimaging this tale for all ages!
