It can be so overwhelming to shop for holiday books. There are so many books out there. Luckily, I’m your bookish guru and have read over 100 Christmas books over these past few years.

From classic Christmas stories to spicy romances to family reads, I have your holiday book list covered!

I started reading holiday books a few months ago so I could include some new holiday books that had just been released.

Whether you want to read a book for yourself or get the best holiday books for your friend’s stocking this year, I got a selection below where you won’t need to look elsewhere!

“This book got turned into a Hallmark Christmas movie last year. While I remain a fan of the book, this is a Christmas book and movie always on my list to read/watch to others I know!”

Best Holiday Books 2022

1. All I Want for Christmas by Maggie Knox

I love country music, and this Christmas romcom book hit all the notes (literally)! It was a fast-paced, fun read centering around Sadie and Max. They are singers who get paired up together for Starlight, a singing competition. They can’t stand each other, but will that last, or will this duo hit the right notes (pun intended)?

2. Once Upon a Time in December by Amy E. Reichert

A cozy holiday read that you’ll definitely find yourself wanting to reread. Protagonist  Astra Noel Snow (yes, that’s her name, and I love it) lives her life by always carrying the special holiday with her. After her recent divorce changes her holiday plans, she meets Jack Clausen. Will the magic of the season rub off on this new couple? Find out!

3. The Christmas Sisters by Sarah Morgan

The Christmas Sisters is my favorite book by Sarah Morgan. It centers around three very different sisters who reunite for the holidays. Each one has a few secrets and past hurt that they carry with them into

4. The Christmas Bookshop by Jenny Colgan

A story of two sisters, Carmen and Sofia, who are complete opposites. I really enjoyed the setting of the bookshop in Edingsburg. It was a delightful read, I always recommend it!

5. Comfort & Joy by Kristin Hannah

My first Kristina Hannah book made me fall in love with her writing style. This holiday book I’ve read this about three times. I adore Joy Candellaro and her holiday story!

6. The Christmas Letters by Janny Hale

Elizabeth learns her boyfriend of 7 years is leaving her…at Christmas time. I admit this storyline is something I hope never happens to me! But I loved how Elizabeth rallied, and I got to follow her holiday story, which led to Paul Dawson. I won’t give anything away, but find out if Elizabeth decides to open her heart again when you read this book.

7. The Christmas Spirit by Debbie Macomber

The story goes back in time to the 70s, following a bartender and pastor who switch places around the holidays. Another Debbie Macomber gem! I got to interview her about this book for a literary profile, and I can’t tell you what a great read this is for the holidays!

8. Home Sweet Christmas by Susan Mallory

Camryn Neff is focused on getting back to her life in Chicago. But until then, she’s in Wishing Tree to look after her sisters. But it’s there she meets Jake Crane. But Camryn isn’t looking for anything serious, especially in this small town. But can you decide who to love and where?

9. Holiday Romance by Catherine Walsh

For the last ten years, Molly and Andrew have sat next to each other on a plane to Ireland. But this year, a snowstorm stopped their annual travel plans. Now, these two friends are convinced there is nothing remotely romantic between them.

With Andrew a fan of the holidays, Molly may have to slow down and discover maybe, just maybe, there is something special about the holidays and themselves.

10. A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy

Bee Hobbes is a plus-size adult film star who decides to do a holiday movie for a family-friendly television channel. Nolan Shaw, her childhood crush, ends up being her new co-star and the two find themselves in the small town of Christmas Notch. The bad-bad and Bee soon find themselves heating up off-screen, but can they keep it a secret?

11. Snowed in at Christmas by Sarah Morgan

Sarah Morgan crafted intriguing characters in the Miller siblings and Lucy Clarke. A story that had me turning the pages as fast as I could. This is one story I always recommend!

12. A Christmas Promise by Nora Roberts

Pandora McVie uncle leaves her $150 million. The catch to her inheritance is she has to spend half a year at Catskills mansion with Michael Donohue. This setup is hardly ideal, and I fell in love with these characters and the setting!

13. Nick and Noel’s Christmas Playlist by Codi Hall

I adore the story of Nick and Noel. Nick just got out of the military and comes home to find his long-time girlfriend cheated on him. He goes out with his BFF Noel in hopes of getting cheered up, only to find their little kiss feels oh so right. Will these two friends become more?

14. Wishing on a Christmas Cowboy by Sara Richardson

Kyra Fowler just got her dream job in London. The only thing she has to do is sell her estranged father’s ranch he left her. But Aiden Steele won’t let her sell to a developer when he needs to preserve his sister’s and niece’s ranch from getting ruined. Will these two find common ground?

15. The Clause in Christmas by Rachael Boom

Cassie Hayward just inherited a house in the small town of Poppy Creek. But to successfully get the house, she has to complete festive tasks. It’s overseen by the town lawyer, Luke, who finds himself getting more attached despite his best efforts.

16. The Santa Suit by Mary Kay Andrews

I adore this holiday read. I read it last Christmas, and I always recommend it to everyone I know. Ivy Perkins is a character I didn’t forget and one I enjoyed getting to know!

17. Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe by Melissa de la Cruz

I’ve read the story of Darcy Fitzwilliam for the past few years and always love this story more and more each year. It’s a great re-telling I recommend!

18. Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

Becky Brandon is ready to embrace change as she returns to the states from Letherby. But things don’t always go as planned, and the chaos of family and other things start to make Becky question things. Will she find joy in the holidays after all?

19. In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren

The most popular book of the season. From the cover to the characters, I adore Christina Lauren’s writing. This book is no exception. If you want a romance read you won’t soon forget, I recommend picking up a copy of this one!
