My rating of this book is four stars. It had nice pacing for most of the book, but I felt that once the relationship was well underway, some parts dragged with the day in/day out routine of the characters. For a romance novel, there was ample spice, but I didn’t find it too naughty. I appreciated Guillory’s nod to Queen Elizabeth II wearing outfits that stand out in a crowd, because I read this just days after her passing.

This was my first novel by Jasmine Guillory, and I can see why she is so popular! I’m hooked and  will definitely be reading her other books!

I love a good romance, and Drunk on Love did not disappoint. The beautiful Napa Valley setting really set this book apart for me. I appreciated reading about the inner workings of a small winery. This novel delivered on the cozy, small town vibes that I love.

I thought Margot and Luke were well-developed characters. They each had their own fears and flaws despite their cool, confident exteriors. I enjoyed peeling back their layers and getting to know them on a personal level. Their chemistry leapt off the page and their banter was so much fun. The dual points of view were perfect for this book, and both Margot and Luke felt like people I would love to be friends with in real life!

Drunk on Love had some of my favorite romance tropes: forced proximity and workplace romance. I thought Margot and Luke’s mutual longing while they worked together, but couldn’t date, was palpable, and I couldn’t wait for them to finally get together.

The only thing I would change about this book was the pacing in the second half. Once Margot and Luke became a couple, things started to drag a bit for me.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this read, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a spicy romance with small town vibes, forced proximity, angst, and two dynamic main characters.
