A Shoe Story by Jane L. Rosen Book Review is here! I have always loved reading from authors I haven’t heard of before. This may be my first but not my last, by Jane L. Rosen. The cover caught my eye, and the synopsis my interest. I am so excited to share my thoughts with you.

Esme Nash has always dreamed of living in the big apple. She had her whole life planned out, but a tragic event left her life stalled for seven years. Esme is offered a dog-sitting job in New York City for just one month. She plans to use this month to get her life back on track. The bonus is that her boss has a massive shoe collection that Esme uses to boost her confidence during her journey. Old love, new friendships, and time that passes too quickly. Esme must choose between her carefully planned life and whether a new one suits her better.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I enjoyed this read and felt the author did an amazing job at bringing to life a story of finding yourself again. This is easy to relate to since I have always felt that we evolve into different versions of ourselves as time passes. I immediately adored Esme. Her story broke my heart and made me root for her as I read. Esme is caring, devoted, and sweet. I loved how Rosen added the dogs to this read! It was so fun to picture Elvis and Scout while reading. Sy was a wonderful addition to this story. We read about his past and present love life, which hooked me. He was the best friend I wasn’t expecting. I really need a Sy in my life.

The chapter titles were one of my favorite things about this read. I enjoyed looking up all the shoes and now feel the need to up my own collection. Esme has two love interests in this read – Liam and Zach. I struggled a bit with both men due to the men both being in relationships. Usually, this specific topic would not sit well with me, but I felt Rosen did a great job keeping it from feeling scandalous. I liked Zach’s background and the friendship development between him and Esme. The ending was adorable and heartwarming. If you like shoes, New York, and second chances, this book is for you!
